Today I was out doing yard work and at the end of the day I went to go check my chickens and make sure everyone was in their places ready to go to bed, but before I even reached the coop there was some sort of ruckus in their run and so when I finally got there all I saw was my female broiler on the ground struggling to walk or move with my laying hens surrounding her being mean. The run is surrounded with chicken wire and it seemed as if she had gotten stuck in the wire somehow. I brought her inside and she seems to be eating and drinking fine, no sign of loss of appetite or weight; from the time I first saw her to now she has absent droppings, she has not pooped once even after eating or drinking. She can move both legs but she will not stand or walk on them, she lays on her side with both legs out. She also seems like she's having some sort of neurological issue, she acts like she is going to clean her feathers or forage in the grass but she just swings her head back and forth while doing that. Ive noticed that her comb has gotten a little pale a couple hours after finding her. I thought maybe she was egg bound but she's only about 3 months old, I do not live anywhere near an avian vet, let alone have the money. Please help me and this poor baby!!! I realize that this is a meat bird and I am probably going to have to cull it but I want that to be my last resort.
