i found this site after trying to find some information to help me with one of my quails, both of them are japense quails that i got about ... 2 months/3 months ago id say, they were both about 6 - 8 weeks old, when i got them both, both were very active and wondered around the house just looking around and just wanting to explore, one could fly very well on her own even though she keeps smacking off things, shes always been fine but the other one thats alot bigger then her, shes tried to fly about twice, she did fly once pretty high but then fell and landed on her side, since then her wings been very low, and looks like its fallen/broken but ive checked her out and it seems fine, not broken and after that she had another fly and landed safely so if her wing was broken/disloacted she wouldnt have been able to fly right?

besides that shes been very .. im not sure how to explain it really, shes been very quite and kept to herself, shes not exploring anymore and just keeps to one corner or has a little wonder but then just sits down, like shes tired, shes mostly sitting down and looks as if shes tired, shes eating and drinking fine though, im just really worried about her and wondering if this is normal? both of them havent layed any eggs either, even tho ive been giving them fresh fruit/veg and eggs (chicken eggs) onces a week, im not too worried for the egg laying though.

can anyone help me! please!?

Why is she doing this and is there anything i can do to help her and her fallen wing? i cant take her to a vet because there isnt any in the area or anywhere really within my own that deals with quails and have turned me away each time saying they dont know anything about them. :(

Please help!

The wing could be dislocated, a muscle could be torn, or she could have suffered internal injuries or brain damage. If she is eating, drinking and using the bathroom then keep her calm and hydrated and she should heal if it is just a sprain. However, a wing that drags is probably a broken wing, and it should be set.

As for the egg laying, quail need proper lighting also to lay eggs.

I've never kept quail, but I hope this helps.

Best of luck!

I hope this helps: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-treat-a-chickens-broken-leg-or-wing.html

thats the thing i thought it maybe broken but if it was broken she would drag it along but she can flap with it just fine and when they have sand baths shes fluffing alot more then the hyper one :] .. thats why i thought maybe its dislocated? as for the lighting they are both near a huge window and light is there for them from 8am to when the sun goes down around 9:30pm but again not so worried for the eggs haha, just her being quite is all :[ ive kept her in my hands to keep her warm and ive opened her wing to see if it is anything else but all feels fine and shes perfectly fine eating, drinking and well pooping.

and thank you for the replay and the warm welcome!
