Need help with nest box. My builder is gone.

I don't think you really need to build a "frame" per say as you would for a wall. All I did for mine was take 4 2x4's and drill them to the floor, cut a peice of plywood or whatever you are using as a bottom and sides, get a few 90 degree corner braces and put the sides and drill it together then put the top and dividers on. Below is a pic of mine. Hope it helps alittle.

Thank you guys for all the help. I had to jump back about 10 pages on the search results, but I finally found exactly what I was looking for. Including using a portion of the wall as the lip for the boxes.

dbounds10 - you just have the plywood? no extra wood frame? Does it hold the chickens weight ok and everything?

well its built into the frame, i dont know how you would do it any other way. Its screwed in with 3 inch screws and glued as well. its inserted into the 2x4 frame. They have not started laying yet but they have been in there scratching around and before I closed them off they were sleeping in there. That was when they were smaller though. Now you are making me nervous! I hope it holds them!

I just went through this myself! I copied this idea from someone else, but I can't find the site now.
1: Cut out the hole in the wall
2: Cut the side pieces to fit just inside, and screw/nail them to the side studs
3: Cut the bottom piece to fit between them, and attach it to the sides and horizontal support.

I had some left-over shiplap I used for the outside, but plywood would work too.

Thank you tellynpeep. Thats also what I was thinking. As you can tell I was considering all those, since obviously most ideas are similar. I just want to do it the quickest way (still safe and secure of course) but they are going out tomorrow whether its done or not.
