Need help with night time insect caatcher

I read many years ago about a guy that built an insect catcher using a fan and his wife's nylon stockings. He would use it at night and in the morning his chickens had a nice treat to start their day with. Does anyone know what I am talking about, built one or know how it is built to work properly? He in Florida, much like anywhere else I presume, we have lots and lots of nighttime insects. Any help would be appreciated, diagrams and instructions would be great.

I have a bug zapper in my chickens run with auto pop door. Door opens & breakfast is served. Its like staying in a hotel with complimentary breakfast.
