Yes I know, but it shows up in fecal floats the same way worm eggs do. I do not offhand recall whether it is the 'live' cocci or their cysts that show up, you could prolly look it up. Would be worth having a vet do the float - I would run in fear from a vet that couldn't recognize coccidia in a fecal sample since they occur in *all* species of livestock and pets (although different spp of animal have different unique spp of coccidia). That would give you a 'second opinion' on your own worm egg counts, too. (Though it is certainly possible for a horse to have a worm problem without eggs showing up in a fecal, if the worms are not in the adult stage when you do the float...)

Her worming schedule is in line with the other babies. MOST OF THE VETS around here know VERY LITTLE about miniature horses.

True, that is sometimes a problem

From what you describe, stress sounds like a good possibility. Weaning can be tough on some babies, and seven weeks isn't that long ago. Just sort of coddling her for a while might be all she needs (she seemed ok before weaning, yes?)

If the diarrhea was associated with cold weather, have you thought about getting her a mini-sized waterproof turnout sheet? Another thought, is there still grazeable grass in their paddock, and is it possible she is sometimes getting too much of it (like if she's run off the hay by other horse(s)) causing the loose stools?

Good luck, hope you get her figured out,

My Thoroughbred used to colic every year, about the same time of year without fail. My vet used to come out and bring the big gallon of oil, he had to teach me how to put in the tube ti my horses tummy (my horse doesn't let too many people mess with him) and we would have to pump the oil in. It worked every time although the next few days were messy. We would have to scrub or wipe down his legs everyday because when everything did get moving, it got moving! The vet had this gallon container with a pumping handle on it and we would literally have to pump it in.

THANK GOD he hasn't in about 6 years now, but it was something we had to go through every year when I boarded him.

The baby is back in the barn. She is doing great now. We did an second fecal on her and still nothing is showing up.

I do believce this one is just a bit fragile and gets stressed out.

She really is a tiny little thing, even now at 9 months.

Every one else is doing great in the pasture so i really do not think it was cocci.
