Backyard flocks help remind us of our cultural heritage

Please help me complete this bullet list. I'm brain dead and my kids are so loud I can't keep two thoughts together.....

in the 1800 everyone had chickens in their backyard.

In the 1800 no one would go to the grocery store and buy eggs they had their hens lay them.

thats all i can think of.
