Need help with 'screen door' design.

It's used as a sleeping mat for backpackers, so it must form a moisture and cold temp barrier between the ground and the camper. It's perfectly water proof and insulates extremely well. The only drawback is that chickens can peck the foam and form holes, but yours will be on the outside of the screen so they can't access it as they're on the roost.

Here's what I'm talking about. https://www.amazon.com/Sleeping-Non...=closed+foam+sleep+pads&qid=1617817260&sr=8-3
Ok that makes sense... thank you!!

what would I do in the winter when it needs to be closed up.
You still need ventilation in winter. ;)

I would build a huge weather proof run over the whole tiny coop/run combo.
Where are the nests?

(I'm in MA)

It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

That is actually what my master plan is... the carport that I'm putting up is going to act as sun and rain protection. Over the next month or two I'm going to be fully enclosing it and making it predator proof. We'll see how quickly I'll be able to do that... my garden will be needing me to wake it up next month so I know I'll be preoccupied with that. As of right now I dont have nest boxes, they're not laying yet but I want to get them in there asap. I was actually just going to search the forum for nest box ideas and possibly make a post asking for ideas. I need something that will either fit thru the small doors or something that I can put together inside the coop. The previous owner had milk crates in there that I had to cut to get out. I can't wait to buy a larger piece of land and build a proper coop... this small one is good to start with but it's a bit of a pain because I can't get into the coop and I have to crawl to get into the run. And thank you for the info.

Ohhh...now I recognize you from your 'maybe mold' thread!

I'd build onto the coop, there really is not room inside for a nest.

Yes, I'm the possible mold person lol. There is enough room for two nest boxes in there. I would ultimately like to add a little addition onto the side of the coop for nest boxes with a hatch roof for egg collecting. I dont want to take on too much all at once so that will have to be a future project.

Well, yeah they'd fit, but would reduce an already small space.
Someone on fb shared that they just pile hay in the corner and their birds make a nest out of it. I wouldn't be putting full size enclosed nest boxes in there. As of now I'm just gathering ideas to figure out what will work until I can put an add on exterior next box on there.
