Hello fellow chicken owners. I've recently gotten 6 little black rock chickens and I have no idea how to tell if they're male or female yet. I'm assuming they are about 3-4 weeks old now, as they were fairly big when I got them. So far I'm assuming 2-4 of them are males just by behavior (I know I'm probably wrong, but yeah.)

Here are some pictures for help: (sorry for the inconsistent lighting)
This is sweet pea

Ox

Arrow Head

Dot (I assume this one is male just by their behavior)

Em

Evenchicken (this one is the oldest, developed feathers a LOT faster than the others)

Your chicks are too young to sex accurately. I'd recommend posting new photos of them when they're 6-8 weeks of age. Based on the light feather coloring of some of them, though, you may have at least one cockerel.

Comb size and color is a big indicator, so when you post more photos, be sure to include a head shot so we can see the comb size and color.

Behavior often doesn't mean much...I've had plenty of snotty pullets bumping their way into others...roo's tend to just do it more and more prolonged.

You may have a couple of roo's from the double white barring on a couple...but I would need to see combs.

I would not seal a chick's fate until at least 8 to 10 weeks of age, often longer as Barreds can be hard to sex at times.

Oh, really? I kind of thought they were a bit young, but our city doesn't allow roosters or cockerels at all so I guess I'm a little too impatient :p
