We have three female bragg's mountain orpingtons that are 5 months old, and are healthy, but our 2 month old cockerel is wheezing, making a sound when he exhales and at the back of his mouth where the tongue ends there is yellow. You know a chicken's tongue will look weird if you look far enough back. I don't see swelling, and I hope that it's not wet pox because we can't lose him. I hope we don't, but if we do I said that I will make a post asking for an adult rooster. Please tell me your opinions on what he could have, and help me treat him.

Have you seen any evidence of dry fowl pox on the combs or faces of him or others? Several types of respiratory infections can cause yellow exudate in the throat around the trachea. Some are caused by viruses, or by bacteria. You might cautiously take a QTip and try to remove the yellow substance. A vet might be helpful if antibiotics or other meds are needed. Feed stores only have Tylan 50 for respiratory infections.

It's too late, he died, now I'm going to go on and search for an adult bragg's mountain cockerel preferably 10 months to a year old. If anyone has one would you please let me know, I live in Cleveland, TX, and I believe that we are willing to have one ship if need be. I'm in desperate need for one for my three hens, so please let me know if you have one that is available.
