Yesterday my Rooster was sneezing. I noticed it while we were all out “free ranging” in the yard in the afternoon. Yesterday’s poop photo attached. He’s a 3 yr old Easter Egger Mix. Always healthy, eating drinking, acting fine.
He lives in an open HWC coop with 2-5 yr old hens. We added 12 week old American mixes that have been with us that long. The shared run has a self enclosed coop with the Littles in there. Not in the same coop.
We are in SC, hot, humid, dry, dusty, wet (afternoon thunderstorms), and pollen. He is sneezing still today. His crowing is hoarse. Eyes are not foaming. He may have slight clear discharge (eyes and nasal) and may be swallowing some mucus. Nothing dripping/running. Barely noticeable. I don't hear him wheezing. Everyone is mouth breathing with wings out due to heat and humidity. No one else is sneezing.
I have Amoxicillin to put in water (1 teaspoon per gallon of water 5 - 10 days.)
Do I start Amoxicillin in water?
Do I treat the whole flock or just him?
Do I isolate him (This will cause additional stress for him.)
Do I need a different antibiotic?
Thank you in advance. I don’t want anything to get worse if I can help it.
