My quail eggs are 6 days old and it is faced big end on top and pointy end at the bottom. I'm
Still not sure about hand turning them... i have been flipping them around about 3-4 times everyday.

Just tilt the incubator side by side few times a day without open. You touch the egg too much isn't good due to bacteria. I stop turn the egg around 14 days. It should hatch around 17 days. I found the egg isn't fertilized during cold winter. There are ton of information at the Quail forum. Good luck!
 
If that is condensation on the dome the humidity is way too high for incubation.

If it's too high the chicks will drown.

I don't have an incubator like that but I dry incubate til I put them in lock down. The raise it up to 70 or 80 percent.

If you run dry then you wouldn't have to worry about water getting into holes while you tilt it for turning.

My hatches went up after I went dry. But it was a lot of trial and error and that's what seemed to work best for me.
