I'm feeding my chooks Rice Bran apparently the supplier indicated this was high in protein and would be great for your chooks
so I have noticed after I changed from Polard to Rice Bran the chooks have a really red bottom and loss of flethers in this area.
It looks really sore - some chooks have really big eggs also 700g size ( I have 4 Red's and 2 unsure what they are but Greyish colour and
very pretty chooks.

The protein content of rice bran is roughly 12%. Laying hens need 16% protein. Poultry feed manufacturers ensure their product contains the necessary protein and other vitamins and nutrients for a healthy bird.
The red bums you are seeing are as a result of too little protein. Feathers contain protein so they pluck and eat them. Plucking can get out of hand very quickly if they aren't fed an appropriate diet, please switch them to layer feed asap
