need help a wild muscovy duck got killed I think sometime yesterday. the kids brought me her 7 eggs tonight around 6pm. I put them under a heating pad to keep them warm while I went to go get the incubator. I candled them looks like a few are alive there's movement & some not too sure about yet. they look to be between 8 to 12 weeks along. like this pic I found online & I got this incubator tonight hooked it up set the temp to 100 & humidity to 58%. I do keep it cold inside my house around 70 degrees because the outside temps here get up to 100+ I live in Jacksonvile florida & only place I can put the machine on is in corner on the floor away from draft as best as I can get it. It defaults to 21 days egg turning don't know yet the actual days it will need I will check them as they go along. should I change anything?
my other wild duck she & daddy duck come over everyday in the AM she just dropped 3 eggs in past three days, she not ready to stay with them until she done dropping eggs, but she has raised another ducks eggs & babies before.

as a fellow Floridian, i would advise you to read up on Muscovy ducks and how they are invasive to native florida wildlife. its honourable of you to want to take care of her eggs but the Muscovy population is at such high numbers that FFWW has allowed locals to humanely euthanise them if i recall correctly. however Muscovy's have now been deemed an invasive species that has properly established itself in Florida. please do a little research on Muscovy’s and/or really any wildlife you come across and wish to help, this can help you in many ways such as with future planning for the flock & your family along with the impacts it may have in your local community. sometimes the smallest thing can negatively/positively impact our environment without us realising.
best wishes, i hope everything goes smoothly for you, your family, and the eggs!

Darn if she’d go broody that would be perfect. You could take the eggs she has laid and put these you just got in her nest. I know nothing about incubators I have Muscovy. Lol

Muscovy Ducks I changed out the water in the N360 forced air incubator today & checked all the eggs they look alive moving around & heart beating & red veins & good air sacks they are having a good old time inside the eggs they like the light from my flash light when I candle them. They are in good shape they between 8 to 12 weeks old inside the eggs. got temp set at 100.5 & The humidity its at 55 now. I got the vent open 1/2 way for now. Do I need to turn off the incubator Everday for a certain amount of time kinda like as if mom was taking a break kind of a thing? My dogs keep checking on them they seem to know they are alive. They sniffed the eggs when I opened it to check on them. I think they can hear their hearts beating.

yes I know about the laws I e-mailed FWC back when their sister was 1st over here in march & hatched babies. she got 4 left out of 22. then her sister oreo & paula both shared the same nest, but oreo ended up doing all the work & 23 hatched around may 14 now has 4 left. now oro & daddy duck been coming back over she just dropped 1 egg a day she up to 4 eggs. they all live over at the pond & all the neighbors take care of them. they come over to my house to lay & hatch eggs they leave sometimes come back with the kids to visit for a while for the day & leave again. I take care of them while they are here I made them a box house, make sure they got duck food & water & I talk to them they know they are safe & loved. I know they are wild ducks & They trust me up to a point. my house is their birthing center & they know me as grandma.

@My15Ducks can tell you about cooling I don't think you want to turn off the bator though. That would make the temp fluctuate too much.

I started cooling at day 10, and cooled for 10 minutes daily until day 25. I also lightly misted the eggs after cooling.

How I did it:
Turn off incubator and lift the lid, set timer for 10 minutes. Mist the eggs, put the lid back on and turn it back on. My incubator heats up pretty quickly so turning it off didn’t seem to cause a problem. But you could leave the incubator on and take the eggs out to cool instead.

okay so just leave them in there got it. sorry I'm new to using an incubator. just trying to save the little ones life best I can. its an n360 air forced incubator just set it up last night been checking on it today. the air vent is all the way open. the temp is set to 99.5 & humidity shows it goes between at around 52 to 54. the egg turner is working. There are 7 eggs total I wrote the date I put them in the machine & X mark on them. the eggs look like 3 of them are about around 12 days old & 2 of them look to be around 10 days old & 2 about maybe 8 days old from when the mom was sitting on them when I candled them looked at pics & vids to get an idea what they should look like. The older looking ones look like they are starting to look like they are growing a bit of a bill shape. they do have the red veins, & black looking hearts & moving around inside them & the air sacks look good all in tacked.

What I mean is I barely know anything about using a incubator so I’ll let @My15Ducks help and also @KathiQuacks is another good one
