I have a hen seriously damaged by a dog. She recovered, but I cannot reintroduce her to flock! The flock keeps attacking her. I have tried lots of ways, but the attacks continue. She cannot continue living in my shop what can I do? She is blind in one eye so she is newly disabled too. I have no space to keep her separate, sad I don’t want to cull her either.

I am sorry to hear about your hen. Have you tried putting her in a cage inside the coop? This way the flock (and her) can check each other out without her getting hurt. I would do this for a few days and then one evening put her on the roost after everyone has gone to bed. I have had luck with this process. Good luck!

Hadn’t thought about that! I certainly will grab a dog kennel and see what happens then! Thank you!

Put her there for a day or two, day three let the others out of the coop/run. Lock her in by herself. This lets her explore without being chased. Repeat the second day. Then leave one of the flock in there with her. There will be a dust up, but one on one and should settle fast. Repeat next day, same two birds. Then on a day you can keep a close eye, let everyone out in the yard (outside of the run). Now if you have some meanies, put them in the dog crate. The new hen should follow everyone back to the coop. Repeat keeping the meanies locked up, now keeping everyone in the run. Then try the whole flock together.

Or get painless peepers and put them on everyone.
