Hello all. My name is bryan.

I have 39 pheasants and 10 quail. Along with 10 chickens.

My issue is that I contacted the dec and they told me a just had to buy a permit. So I payed $50 for my Class a game bird permit. Now my mom's friend was saying that im not zoned for birds in my area.

The pheasants and quail are both 6 weeks old, so they are going to have to go outside shortly. Im not worried about the chickens beacuse there 3 weeks old and Im going to put them in my large storage garage porch. The area for the pheasants is going to be 25 ft x 25ft. And the quail is going to be 10x6.

So it would be rather hard to hide it. I live in tioga country. We have a 2 acre lot, with the closest house being about 20 yrds to my left and right, and about 115yrds the furthest. the the upper left of my yard leads to a field and then woods.

If it turns out that the town dosent want me to have them what do I do? All my surrounding neibors know what im doing and are fine with it. I need to know before I have to make my pen. Im not wasting all that money if I have to tear it down.

Help?

Research the town ordinances in your town. Find out if that is even true. If it is, start a petition with your neighbors signatures that they have no objections, and see if the town will give you a variance. Also try talking to other pheasant owners, and see what they might suggest.

I wish I could help you more. I don't know much about pheasants or quail. Try getting a petition together with your neighbors support. I would definately find out if there is a pheasant/quail club who can help you out with some more info.

I actually know where you are ....
Yes do check the ordinances by calling your town zoning officer and ask for a copy of them. If you already have a permit ... I can not see why they would sell you one if you couldn't have them
I'll assume your raising them as a hobby? or to Consume? and/or eggs?
Business endeavor?
Whatever the purpose Check your Right to Farm Act as well in New York.
I think I scared my town officials with that one. ...lol

Have fun and relax, What happens will.
