Hi everyone. My husband is mostly done attaching all the HWC to our metal carport turned chicken run. However, we have one problem. Along the top of the carport, there is a thin metal edge just below the roof. It is some sort of trim piece. The HWC goes up overtop of this edge, however, we cannot attach the HWC with screws to this edge because it is so thin. I am trying to figure out how to attach this. Any ideas? I found something called metal U clips online. They look like they might work but I am wondering if anyone has done this and has a better idea? The HWC is 1/2" so it has to be something small. We don't want to leave it unattached, so we need to come up with a solution quickly as we hope to move the chickens by the end of this week. Thanks!

Do you have a picture, so I can see exactly what you've got going? I recently converted an opened top horse trailer into a coop, so had to deal with putting hwc over every single little opening. Some I did using a board on each side, attaching them, like a sandwich, securely with screws - some I used gorilla tape to anchor. It would be great to see what you are working with.

Clips !
Some kind of PLASTIC clips so it doesn't rust.
Check out the gutter section of HD or lowes, I got some that I couldn't use for my rain guards. They were on sale for like 29cents a pack. But I am sure that if you can find some kind of clip to hold it on, that would work well.
you could caulk or glue it to secure as a double measure but I would make sure it is a tight fit.
Maybe in the hardware section, just walk down all isles. If you can ask, see if they have a U shape clip that is tight, non metal.

I have the same carport :) but mine is for the cars

Ok here are the pics.

Tigger 19687, this is what I am thinking. Some kind of small clips. Going to our local hardware store this morning. Hope I can find something.
