Need Immediate Help - Feather Shaft Broken and Bleeding on Foot

Done! That was fun. NOT. She stopped bleeding within a few seconds. Hardly needed the compression. Didn’t need the potato starch - I couldn’t find the corn starch quick enough. We put her in her roost space which luckily is at the end of the board and she’s got space around her as well.

She was standing on it a little bit, then lifting it. Did that several times then sat down.

I’ll of Course check her in the morning. Hopefully she’ll be feeling much better. I’ll neosporin it regardless.

Thanks so much for all the help and so quick to!! Thank you!

Probably jinxing myself with so many feather footed birds in my flocks but I have yet to have that happen. Ten years and counting.

Good job! My squeamish side would have been showing.

She’s roosting comfortably it looks like on the camera. Fingers crossed! I’ll report in tomorrow. As a newbie myself I always appreciate people posting back what happened after treatment. Too many times you never know if what was done actually worked or not.
Good job, it wasn't fun but you did what was needed and she'll be better quicker for it.

The plucked feather is at the center of the clock position right above the center red stripe on the towel. the white is Neosporin.

She’s not limping at all! She ran out for the morning feed and then into the grass when I opened that section up with all the other girls. I let her eat then caught her to check her out. Her weight feels exactly the same so I didn’t weight her.

If I didn’t know where the broken feather had been I wouldn’t have noticed the area. I soaked it anyway and put the Neosporin on it. I’ll check it again later today.

I’m quite happy on this! Thanks again everyone!
