Need Info. On Fenbendazole And Other Wormers..PLEASE!!

My Dominique has an active case of worms. I took her to the vet and they suggested I worm all my chickens with Fendendazole. I went to my local feed store and all they have it for is dogs. Is this okay for chickens? Has anyone used this before? If so, how do you know how to administer it to a chicken? Can you still eat the eggs from your chickens? OR has anyone ever experienced an active case of worms with thier chickens and used something else to worm them? What about Wazine? Anyone know anything about that? I don't want my chikens to get sick and I die!!! I love them!!

Wazine will only kill roundworms. Eprinex Pour On for cattle is probably the only one I'd feel okay still eating the eggs afterward. It's expensive, but lasts a long time. Most have two to four week withdrawal periods after worming before you can eat the eggs. The other, I don't know enough about to say.

You can get Fenbendazole crumbles from the Chicken Dr at www.firststatevetsupply.com. It says it is for chicks but the Chicken Doctor told me you can use it for adult birds, too, and we have. You just mix it with their food. We just use it twice a year; directions will probably tell you to use it more than that, but you shouldn't really need to and if you do you'll never be able to eat any eggs as there is about a three week period after worming where you can't eat them. it's supposed to kill all types of worms.

did you take a fecal sample to the vet for testing?
this could tell you what worms you need to treat for.
maybe the Wazine 17 (piperazine) is all you need.
as above poster said..it only treats adult round worms, and, as most wormers, does need to be repeated in 10-14 days.
easy to use..in drinking water (1 ounce per 1 gallon of water for 1 to 1 1/2 days)

fenbendazole, Eprinex/Ivermec (ivermectin), Cydectin (moxidectin) all treat a broader range of worms.

If you are willing to try a hollistic approach, try raw diced garlic!!!! Works like magic!!
EXAMPLE:
For 18 silkie chickens I used 1 large head of raw garlic, diced added to 2 cups of fully cooked brown rice added to two large handfulls of raw /shredded /diced carrots, for 3 days. Repeat if necessary.
