my grandparents want chickens but they need them to match these criteria

1. can get away from dogs, cats, and hawks

2. Good layers

3. look nice

I did some research when I added some new chickens to my flock 4 months ago. I got Brown Leghorns. They are very pretty and their coloration protects them somewhat from birds of prey. They are a little flighty and will scurry to get away from danger, including dogs and cats. They are good layers of white eggs (but the white leghorns are the best layers of the breed.) but mine are not yet old enough to be laying, so I can't say from my own experience.
