Hi there, first post so wee bio:
Live in NZ. We have three plymouth rock girls laying nicely and wanted to expand. So I made my own incubator, bought 12 lavender orpington eggs and now we have 10 seven week old chicks who just moved next door to the big girls yesterday (out of the brooder). My first ever hatch so real chuffed with 10/12. Largely due to the excellent resource that is backyardchickens.
All good so far.
When the chicks were little I took the small brooder to my daughters kindergarten for the day so all the wee kids could enjoy them and learn a bit.
The kindy teachers then went 'Oooh you made an incubator could you look at ours?'
So they have a JN448 and have put a few batches through it with no success. It has rollers to turn the eggs and there are no instructions so Im not sure how to set it up. What I have discovered online is that the plastic box needs extra insulation.
Im not sure if it has an automatic lockdown, or how to read/check humidity or how to set the frequency of egg turns.
I cant give them my incubator cos its a manual one.
I would hugely appreciate a copy of the manual if anyone has one, or some instructions as to how to set this thing up.
See pic below.
Many thanks,
Matt
