Need Midget White turkeys ASAP

My 6 year old is starting in 4H and wants to do Midget White turkeys. I do have an incubator but would rather get her poults as my bator might not be tall enough for the eggs and with only half of shipped eggs expected to hatch poults might be the better option.

Where is best to get MW poults?

Exactly what kind of project is your son wanting to do? Even a Midget is going to be a mighty large handful for a six year old.

She (sorry, should have said) is wanting to show one of them and sell the rest of her birds as adult birds. I am going to put a couple in with hers for a taste test as have heard many good things about their taste. The pen is 15ft by 15ft and is covered with a lovely lean to for them to get out of the weather in. Is that enough space for 10? I have found a hatchery that is fairly cheap but the min order is 15.​

If she's wanting to show then I'd really suggest going with a smaller bird. They have to be able to handle the birds for the judge and even a Midget hen is going to be too much for a six year old. Younger kids usually start with bantam breeds. If she enters an APA sanctioned show be aware that they don't recognize White Midgets. Some folks will show them as Beltsville Whites but once in a while you get a judge who knows the difference so she could be disqualified.

I'm keeping a grown tom and six hens in an 8x9 tractor. 15x15 ought to be big enough for ten though if the toms reach the breeding season before you sell them there's going to be mayhem for a while until they sort out who gets the girls.

She mostly wants to raise them and sell them. Very into the baby animals and money thing lol. So the showing would be just a secondary thing so if they are too big for her to show no problem.

Glad the space shouldnt be a problem.​
