need neighbor advice

If my neighbors were watching me like a tv that would drive me nuts:mad: I would barracade or use blinds so they couldnt watch me till I got the fence up.My inlaws live right behind there sons home and brother in laws are right beside them and they are always nosing to see who is at each others home thankfully I live down the street or they would be doing the same to me instead they walk or drive down to stare:rolleyes:

I would love to plant some nice thick hedgy stuff, I guess I am impatient. But if I'm going to spend $$$ for 14 sections of stockade fence and posts, I will check in to how much hedge or tree or bush I can get for that money, maybe older plants. I'll have to look into Leyland Cypress.
I do hate the idea of fence, but I hate being watched even more

The foghorn sounds great and do-able, in fact, I think DH got one for Christmas.

What you say makes sense...but dont bet on that!

Get a fog horn, when they start yelling and cursing, blow it. If they give you a hard time, blow it again. Too bad you dont have winters in Florida...windows close. Good luck!

I have exactly that! An old truck air horn hooked up to my compressor that I sometimes blow just for fun. 60 gallons of compressed air will make that blow for at least an hour straight!

Bamboo makes a great screen, and even blocks a lot of sound. Contrary to popular belief, it's easy to keep in check just by mowing. (And keeping their side mowed will give them something to do besides fight.)

we have had the worst luck when it comes to having neighbors. If you want to put up a fence do it! People can be rude and not think of other people's feelings and thoughts. Do what is comfortable for you and your family!

I put a wooden fence in my backyard this year too, after living here nearly 22 years. The house on the left beside me sold and the folks that moved in dont even speak English, no kidding, on ly the soldier husband, the rest do not, and when he was deployed, she got an above ground tacky blue pool and invited every one she knew over for parties in that pool, several times a week! By party number three my wooden fence was up and could then go in my backyard again and tend my pond and chickens without being the topic of a conversation I couldn't even understand. It helped tremendously, if nothing else, my stress level!! Never had problems with the other neighbor but didnt realize how much I would enjoy not being forced into a conversation with him just because we were both in the yard at the same time! The ones behind me have an inground pool so it was wonderful for me to block them out, lol! So, yes, I say a wooden fence is the way to go! I put a picket fence across the fronts and just planted some bushes in front of that so I still have a breeze in the yard and some openness but the back is pretty private. I will plant some seeds CaroleAM sent me for creeping vines along the back fence when it gets warm and that may make even more of a barrier. I like the leland cypress idea but I already had a chain link fence and couldnt wait for the "privacy" to grow in!
