It has 50 mg of vitamin E and selenium. I don’t like to use injectables, preferring to use oral vitamins. Usually for wry neck we give 400 IU (267mg) of E and I like to give the selenium in food, such as a small amount of egg, tuna, or sunflower seed. Thiamine or B1 is also good to give in small amounts.
Ok. I have a 4 week old Silkie chick who is having balancing problems. It seems to be progressing. She is still very active, talkative, alert, eating and drinking. She can stand and walk but then topples all over the place. This has only started happening in the last 3-4 days. Are you saying then that I should not give her this vita e medications?
Yes orally. This is the one I usually give, but they didn't have the same brand at the feed store today. I'm querying thie new one above because the ingredients appear to be different? Ordinarily I would give 1ml per gallon of water....would this new one have the same dosage? Thanks so much for your help
The old Vit e in post above specifies it can be given to chickens in their drinking water. The new Vit e in my first post does not mention chickens....which is why I want to be careful by checking with you guys first
It can be given, but it doesn’t have enough E in it. I would give it orally, not in the water. E usually is not water soluble. In case you want to just give some foods high in E, here is a list of them: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324308.php
Ok Eggcessive, thank you. I will give the chick e Vit high foods....but I think I'd like to also give this orally too since even though the Vit e is a low level, you think it'd be ok. How many cc's/ml's would you advise please?
I give my horses a similar product. It is an oil base so it will not mix with water. It will just float on top. Give it orally. Either mix it in the feed or give it with a dropper. I don't know the dosage for a 2 oz chick but I would start with the smallest dosage of one drop directly in the beak.
