Need Reassurance: Molting & Diarrhea

My chickens have never eaten a lot during molt, and they are more inactive and standoffish, preferring to lie around and rest. I would always offer some scrambled egg, tuna, or ground meat to them as a treat, and most would grab some. But once in awhile if one had an underlying illness, it might show up at that time.

That's what I'm worried about - an underlying ir secondary illness surfacing while she's compromised by the molt. That poop is awful. But this morning, her crop was perfectly empty. She ate a little and chased her sisters a bit before resuming her sad little stance.

Hopefully, there is more in that crop this afternoon when I get home from work. And we are expecting a series of storms starting tomorrow. I'm tempted to bring her inside fir warmth and ease of access. Idk. We'll see.

Thanks for the replies!

Hyacinth's crop was partly full at bedtime - not overly stuffed, but I felt feed in there.

I didn't get a chance to observe her poop because I am sick today and slept all afternoon (I feel so lazy....). I will be sure to tomorrow.

Poor thing feels like a pincushion. I don't like touching them when they're at this stage. Only she and my BPR molt this hard. My others molt more slowly and gracefully.

Aww, I hope you feel better!!!

That's a good sign. Oh geez, I know what you mean, I had one that looked like a hedgehog, I only held her when I absolutely had to.

Hi How is Hyacinth? Have a similar issue, molting bird with chronic diarrhea. I dewormed her hopefully before the molt (can’t remember but just read not supposed to deworm during molt). I haven’t been checking her crop but will start today. Hope hyacinth is better! Thanks!
