Need rhyme

THEFT. Plain and simple. Unless she has giving him the dog, it is not his to give away, or sell or drop off at the pound. Call the police and report it. If he will do something like give away his MIL's dog, what ELSE might he have done or be doing? Get new locks on the doors to her home, garage, etc. Alert the doctors and hospital so that his access to her is limited and supervised, or completely revoked. What is the situation with the daughter (his wife)? Is she lined up with him or with her mother, or caught between them? Depending on her attitude, she may need moral/emotional support from the rest of the family, or you may need to consider her a part of the problem.

MIL's two daughters are in the process of moving her to an assisted living facility in southern California to be closer to them. The dog deal came out of the blue and totally without warning. Not a word was said until afterwards. Oh, and when they went to the hospital to visit MIL last night, when she asked about Happy (the dog) they had the nerve to tell her Happy was fine. It is a good thing we are in Missouri or my SO (MIL's son) would shoot the two of them. If they had said anything about Happy being a problem we would have gone to California and picked her up. My SO has to go there to help with the move anyway. Happy is a delightful well behaved and beautiful dog. We still don't know where she is, though. And we have no idea why he (they) did what they did.

I don't know why people act like that.

shortly after I met my hubby he had to be away on business for a week. he had indoor/outdoor cats, and one of his grown sons was going by the house to feed them every day, make sure there was food and water on the porch, etc. his other grown son's wife went by there and decided his cats were abandoned and starving to death (never mind the full food dish on the front porch), collected them all and gave them away.

seriously, I wanted to smack her, and the grown son she's married to, in the head with a stick. hubby said it wasn't worth making war with his kids over. I *still* want to smack them in the head.

what is *wrong* with people like that. just mean, controlling, inconsiderate... something wrong wth them anyway.

Sounds like most of it is being looked into. You might consider having your SO and his sisters tell the step-daughter that they will file charges of theft and elderly abuse if the dog is not found and returned by the time mil is released from the hospital.

I wonder if there is anger about the father's estate/will?

We did find the dog. One of MIL's caretakers had taken Happy and put her in a nice kennel for safekeeping. It wasn't really the caretaker's idea, but she thought it was the best and safest thing to do under the circumstances. Jerk was going to get rid of the dog one way or the other that very day without telling anyone, so she took it. She called one of the daughters last night to let her know. MIL was transferred to a rehab unit this morning and the caretaker is going to take Happy to see MIL later today. As for the estate, there isn't one of any consequence. Maybe a couple thousand dollars in stock which went to MIL, and that's it. I have no idea what the motivation is. None of us do. For the record, the folks moving into stepdaughters house in the first place was stepdaughter's and jerk's idea. Maybe they thought they were going to get some money from the state for this they are upset because they didn't. I just don't know.

The daughters worked all day yesterday to remove all of MIL's property from the house to storage until it can be moved to MIL's new quarters in southern California. MIL has some very nice things, many of them antiques. I don't think any of them are particularly valuable, but they are pretty and it would be a shame if they disappeared.

Glad you know where her dog is! Are they going to be reunited once she is out? It is sad when family does this because family should always be the ones you can trust no matter what!
