need rumpless, tufted vibes

I have hatched out 7 araucana. 1 clean face and tailed, 5 clean faced and rumpless, 1 tufted but tailed. I have 2 more eggs that are pipped, I REALLY want at least 1 tufted, rumpless araucana.

My hatch this week resulted in one double tufted rumpless out of 5, but it's no recognized color that i know of.

at this point I don't think I would care if it was purple

. I hatched 3 today and 2 look partridge and the other is a really diluted chipmunk. So I don't know if the last three are going to feather out a recognized color.

My tufted rumpless eggs are on the way from geareduplyn. I'm hoping the same, but around here there is NO ONE with much of ANYTHING. I get calls all the time for "those chickens that lay blue eggs". I'll keep some of the rumpless tufted and probably sell the others....if I can get them to hatch. My current hatch is going south, I think.

What color Araucana chick with double tufts rumpless did you get?

I hope you know they (Araucanas as per the APA standard) do not breed true. I hatched about 100 and only got about 10 double tufted rumpless chicks. I believe out of the 10 I am only keeping 5-6 of them. The one was triple tufted and would love to get rid of him because he shows silver in the hackle area but I am going to keep him to see if I can get another triple tufted pure black chick from him. He resembles the extinct Siberian Tufted chicken except he is rumpless and they had tails. This is one of the hardest breeds to try and meet the APA standards and you need a lot of patience with them. As long as you have a tufted tailed bird and another rumpless bird to breed it to you will produce some tufted rumpless eventually. Don't give up, but be persistant. You will enjoy the first one you get that is rumpless tufted. Good luck, HS

So does that mean I should hope the tufted is a roo so I can breed him to all the rumpless girls (

) . I will be posting a request for help after they grow up so I know who to keep.
The last 2 hatched(both look black), I think one is rumpless, one tailed, don't think either is tufted

. The good news is I had a decent hatch and finally got a splash(actually 2) ameraucana. I do have a question, my 2 that hatched with the chipmunk markings seem very red, any idea on color? I will post pics tomorrow but they never show the true color.

Harry, does that mean that I would get rid of the clean faced tailed chicks? Is there any reason to keep them (other than the fact they are cute)?
