Need some advice about a dog.

I just reviewed the trail camera footage a second time. Made some discoveries.

This is the spot by my side door, right when the trail camera started taking a video. The camera got triggered because I was walking away after setting it up.

At 7:50 PM, the camera first caught him, (Obviously it’s a him.) This is a close up picture. No collar in any of the video the camera took. He was eating some spilled dog food on the ground as if he was desperate for food.

Obviously, this dog is smart. He RIPPED the door off the dog food container at 7:52. This close up picture shows he may have been neutered.

He kept eating from the dog food container for 10 minutes straight according to the video.

Then, he left at 8:02 PM.

So, what are the fact so far? Its a male, he has no collar, he was possibly neutered, he was VERY skinny, very smart, and he was DESPERATE for food.

That's all so far. Attempting to catch him tonight. He may come back.

He doesn't look skinny to me. Maybe it's the angle of the picture. He looks like a what many hunting dogs in my area look like, condition wise. He does kind of look "houndy". Not uncommon for hunting dogs to go walkabout or get lost. Hope you can find the answer to this riddle! Good luck!

From my point of view, he looked so skinny that you could see his ribs in one of the videos. Poor thing must’ve been starving. There’s evidence for this, as he did eat for quite a while. 10 minutes at least. We will see what he looks like if I catch him.

It is now 7:08 PM, I set out some dog food, and I am in position waiting to try and catch him.

Interesting situation, something for the past few nights has been breaking into my dog food container and stealing dry dog food.

I thought it was a raccoon, so I decided to set up my trail camera. I set it up last night. This morning, I reviewed the trail camera footage and found something interesting.

It was a stray dog. A VERY skinny, VERY hungry stray dog. No collar, so I assume he has no owner. On the other hand, he looks neutered, so I don’t know if he has an owner or not.

I need advice. On the one hand, I can’t have him keep eating Busters food. Buster is my dog, by the way.

On the other hand, I can’t let him starve to death. He is so skinny you can see his ribs.

What should I do? I really need advice.

If it was me I would just go ahead and feed him.

He is skinny, but doesn't look starving skinny to me. I think he's likely a fairly young dog.

Sometime between my last and current dog vets have started to leave more tissue...maybe the dogs deal with it better? My dog had an "empty pouch" like that for several months before it shrunk away entirely.

I didn’t catch him last night. Neither did the trail camera. He may not come back. I don’t know. Maybe his owners found him.
