I have an egg that yesterday I noticed had made a pip hole, I don't want to lift up my broody hen and take a look at it because I'm worried it might hurt the other eggs. I checked on her and I don't hear any peeping or anything

I don't know what to do. . . Should I just wait and see what happens?

There's no harm in feeling around under the hen for chicks or lifting her up a little with your hand to get a quick peek at the eggs/chicks. If she has other eggs that are hatching (or supposed to be hatching) right now, I would wait until they should all be hatched out and then look to see what's going on. Hope everything works out!!

We checked the eggs, and the one with the pip hole is tapping and peeping in side the egg. Every time we tap it does, is that good? I figured that it has been right at 28 hours since I noticed the hole.
I'm not ready to give up on these babies yet lol

Well that means he/she is alive, and that's GREAT news!! I honestly don't know how long it takes them to hatch from the first pip hole to finish so I'm clueless to whether he's just resting or if he can't get out? I just let momma do it and end up with babies eventually lol. Hopefully someone will chime in soon on that matter. I hope your little guy hatches out soon! :)

I went down and checked on them right before dark and I could hear him/her peeping and kicking off the egg shell, I didn't lift mamma up though, but I'm so excited

I'm definitely hoping to see some fluffy little babies in the morning.

Our eggs just started hatching this morning. Several have external pips. How long should it take for the chicks to break out of the shell? Ours are in a bator and this is our very first time trying to hatch chicks. Please help!

This is my first time too

But I've heard that it takes 16 to 24 hours after it pips to completely hatch out
