Rcently I was given 3 chickens, 1 rooster 2 hens, to add to my flock. Since I'm fairly new to all this, I believed them. So now, a few months later, I have personally watched all three hens/roosters breed my other hens and crow. Now I ain't the brightest guy in the world but I'm pretty sure I have 3 roosters not hens but the previously owner swears up and down I'm wrong and there is only one rooster. So any advice and help I would greatly appreciate. Thx

Best thing you can do now is post some pics

But dose sound like three roosters. You can always so that guy you bought them from what they look like and record them crowing. Other then that pick your fav one and get rid of the others. How many is in your flock? How many hens?

There is no way to tell what they are until you post pictures of them. Although it's not the first time its happened i'm sure that a less than reputable person wanted to "get rid of" some cockerels. Sounds like you were duped.

Well if I'm right, I now have 9 hens and 3 roosters.

Thats a high cockerel ratio if your not planning on doing any breeding. Would keep your favorite and drop the other two back off at the guys house so he can see first hand that he sold you two extra roosters.

Agreed if not, your poor hens will be stressed all the time with three males trying to get hold of them. They could lose feathers and stop laying and its just not good.

So sell the roos, give them away or eat them, thats always there haha. Freezer Camp is what they call it

Thanks y'all I definitely don't want to loose any egg production which I have noticed a decrease in. But I am a little nervous in selecting which to get rid of because I do need at least one for we are hatching our own eggs. I'm afraid I will be wrong and get rid of the wrong ones lol

Ok well here is what you can do. Make a list. Since you want one for hatching your eggs, you should start watching your roosters.

*Which one takes charge?
*Which one helps the hens the most by showing them food and stuff?
*Which one seems to be more into watching his girls?
*Are all three mean roos? Or kind of laid back? (You want a even temp roo for hatching. You dont want a mean one.)
*What are you looking for in your roosters? Do any three of them cover what you are looking for?
