ok lol as i posted before i will be getting 4 emu chicks by the end of January give or take....a woman near me has emus and is hatching eggs!! YAY years of looking!!! ok i can read all the HOW to books ECT but i believe the best advice is from people who actually LIVE with emus and have raised them and i like to get MULTIPLE advice! ok my first QUESTION is when will i know male from female?! will i be able to have all 4 of them as adults in the same pen? the only reason im getting 4 as a safety net JUST in case something happens to one of them or something of that nature! but once i find out whos who idk what i will do if i have 2 pairs lol ill fall in love with every single one of them i just KNOW IT LOL but im getting 5 foot fences for them and ive read that if you raise them from chicks that should be good and they wont jump out wich im hopeing for lol but if anyone could just give me some advice about raising the chicks ect that would be awsome

OK first I hope your fence has the small holes in it like the 1x2 welded wire , less chance of the leg going through and breaking there leg , and you have to make sure they can't get trapped they will not always get along however if they can't easily get trapped they will be OK however I don't know how big your pen is but it is good to have a little area to keep separate just in case , if there is a problem ,as long as you raise them by hand and pet them daily you can do almost anything with them when you need to , then you will be good ,any question's you have just let me know and I will try to answer them as will others on here

yea we are still working on there housing at the moment lol so im glad i found you cuz NO where on the internet does it say to have a 2 door shelter! lol so im VERY happy to hear that.....do you have facebook? i have videos ect about my pen if you want to just add me https://www.facebook.com/richard.standingbear.79 and yes we plan on riaseing them IN the house till I feel if its ok to be outside by themselves wich will be probably NEVER lol

lol most people don't do the two doors on the building however they have had lots of problem with fighting , make sure you put doors on the building so when it gets below freezing if you want when they bed down you can close the door on at least one side , as for sexing I sexed my babies when they were about 7 days old and so far I have gotten all of them right , I vent sex them by getting someone to hold them on there back and gently opening there vent just with your thumb pulling the skin to the side so you can look in ,a male will have what looks like a little grain of rice just inside no rice is a girl , however there are other ways , I started mine from babies inside , but make sure you do not under any circumstances let them get on a slick surface (VERY IMPORTANT ) I sent you a friend request
