Need some advise Please

I need some advise on hatching eggs. My son in law has Ruen duck eggs that are 6 days past hatch time. He tried to open one last night and the membrane was stuck to the chick and when he pulled it tore the skin and it bled to death. The eggs are still moving and he wants me to try to open them. I am afraid if I don't try something they are going to die in the shell. What would you folks do? No pips just movement. Please help. John

Are they past the 28 days incubation time? If there is movement but no pip, they are not ready to hatch. I would leave them, make sure humidity is good and wait.

They are at day 34. I don't know how much time to wait.

There where 4 egg in the bator, two of which didn't move. I opened them. One was dead and it looks like it died about 1 week ago. The second was alive and the yoke sack was about 1/2 the size of the duck. The other two I left alone. Humidity and temps up and looking good. The eggs haven't been turned since day 25. Hope that is not a bad thing.

I would use a warm moist q tip too gently remove the membrane. or let the chik escape the membrane on its own. I am not a pro at this nor do I claim to, if you take my advice you are doing it at your own risk. If you are helping a chick hatch and you ever see blood I would stop and put it back in the bater for a while. That is what I would do, but I am not a professional

I would try to get them out ....try to get them air.....use a spray water bottle and keep them warm, and a wet a q tip....read the post on top of this page......if you see blood STOP use a bandaide if you have to to seal egg shell up in the spot you saw blood...then try again 4-6 hrs later........ make sure they have air to breathe

I took my digital thermometer over and temp in the bator was only 92. I believe that has been the problem. I brought up the thermometer question a couple weeks ago and was pretty much told his was just fine. GOOD NEWS THOUGH one of the eggs was peeping late last night. My daughter called and was so excited. I will keep you informed and send some pictures if all ends well. Thanks for all your help. And the post at the top has been a great help. Thanks to all who made that post happen. John

John, I was reading through your updates and was thinking it sounded like the temps were to low. I had that happen to me once. The thermometer looked like it was right all the way thru incubation and when I compared it to another, it was off by 6 degrees. The entire hatch failed. I'm so sorry this happened to you too. :aww
