Moisture becomes a problem when you don't have enough ventilation. Straw bales are REALLY good at preventing drafts because they're thick and nonconducting. If your girls are in your garage maybe you could put up a three sided straw bale shelter with a piece of plywood across the top and a wire front that you could open and close to let them out.
