I guess it depends on what type of snakes you see. I know some like to eat chickens and their eggs but not sure where they are around the US. Maybe we have some in WI and I don't even know it, but I have yet to see any snakes around our chickens and we are in a rural area.In my research I hear the snakes are attracted to and eat the eggs. Also, they might injure or kill chickens. I see at least 1-2 snakes each summer before having chickens. I hear hardware cloth will help keep them out.
