Hello,
We just had a tragic accident and lost one of our pekens. We only had two ducks and I am worried about how the surviving duck will do the rest of the winter on his own. I had been thinking of getting some ducklings in the spring prior to this happening. Should I wait and get ducklings in spring or try to introduce another adult duck? He is about 2 1/2. Thank you!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm sorry about the loss of your Pekin. I'm a chicken person and don't know much about ducks, although I have to admit that ducklings are the ultimate in cute. I would suggest posting this on our duck section at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks, and taking advantage of our duck experts there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your duck.

Thank you! I am trying to figure out how to use this site and couldn't figure out how to post a new thread there but I have it now. Thanks again!
