I have a lavender Ameraucana chick that is about 6 weeks old. It's been in the coop with a heat lamp and access to outside for about 3 weeks. It's been fine. I went out on Monday night to check on everyone and it was lying in the coop on its side. I thought it was dead but it was still breathing. That day had been very hot and my first thought was that it had some type of heat issue. I brought it inside and it's still inside today (Friday). I'm baffled about this chick. I gave it water by syringe for one day. The next morning it was standing up, eating and drinking. It has been eating and drinking on its own all week. But it just stands in one spot and is laboring to breathe. It's whole body is breathing. Its tail goes up and down with each breath. No discharge that I can see. It had runny poopp the first day but since then, the poop seems normal. I'm not sure what's wrong with this chick. I thought maybe it ate something it shouldn't but I looked everywhere in the run and coop and can't find anything. It's not worse. It's not better. What could it be? It's not moving around. Just stands there breathing hard with its eyes closed (except when it's eating or drinking).
