Need some hatching buddies - Hatching May 24-28

It's day 21 I'm still waiting for an EE egg to hatch and a red henXEE egg marked as a double yolker. it's doubtfull anything will happen with that one but I'll wait and see
Something interesting though. out of 2 red hen EE cross I got one white chick and one chickmunkish looking one
I've seen some pics of chicks that look like this. what colors do they usually end up??
the roo is black wheaten-ish rumpless and the hen is a red hen. I had another egg with the same combination give me a white chick

This is an auracana chick. I LOVE these as babies. i think they are the cutest (chipmunk is always the way I describe them). Even if they are part auracana, they come out like this (and can come out of a brown shell) and will still lay colored eggs. If it's not a pure bred, your eggs will probably turn out more green than blue.

My chicks that look like that grow up with brown feathers that are speckled (striped) with dk brown/black and a lighter color. They have fluffy cheeks.

I have 7 out of 8 D'Uccles' that have made it so far. Not sure about a couple. Their are 5 that are lively and well. Not sure why these others are having a bad time. It's been a long time since I had a chick pass after being alive for a while..5 hrs. for the first one. It was real tiny, never was as strong as these other 5. Now all I can do is wait to see if the other two will make it..they won't keep their eyes open, have been hatched since early this morning.
That would make 9 out of the two batches I hatched of this breed. I don't mind that..8 is good.

If I've had a pip for long...I snatch it out of the bator real quick, have a toothpick ready, and chip away a tiny part of the shell, then make sure their is a hole for it to breath, then listen, you will either hear nothing..or, a peep, or, a smacking sound with their beaks.
I know a lot of folks go..nooo, don't open the bator..I make sure the humidity is up more before I do. I did this with a couple with this hatch, they are out and doing fine...I now have 7 out of the 8. One is doing much better than this morning, one is still struggling..will see, but at least it is opening it's eyes now, and moving around a bit.
