Ok, I will be getting my chicks around the first of April and I need some help figuring out what chick is what breed. I placed an order for 15 chicks, 5 Black Australorps, 5 standard plymouth barred rocks, and 5 easter eggers. I ordered all pullets. My problem is that I am splitting these chicks with 2 of my friends. I am wanting 2 EE, 2 PBR, and 1 BA. What is going to be the easiest way to tell these apart? I know that the EE will look different(maybe), but aren't the PBRs and BAs both Black and White/yellow? Please help I don't want to end up with the wrong count of breeds.
Also, one more question, if I end up with some "packing peanuts" can I use the method of checking their feathers on the wings to tell if I got any roos on all three of these breeds? I will be posting pics when I get them on another thread, or I may just continue on this one.

Thanks in advance for the help.
You guys rock!

picks will be the most helpful

you can check the flight feathers, I can never tell myself, but they say roos have shorter ones.

They shouldn't be too difficult. The barred rocks should all have a yellow spot on top of their head that will be easy to spot. The black The easter egg chicks could possibly be any color from chipmunk to alot like the australorps.

Well, if you're splitting the order with your friends and somehow manage to mix up the chicks, maybe your friends would be awesome and trade back the right ones?

Yeah he said he would, no problem, but I just don't want to go through the trouble of driving out to his house 45 minute drive to switch them out, and then have to reintroduce the new ones back to the group. If that is the case how hard do you think it would be to reintroduce them? Also at what age will the start looking different than each other enough to tell what they are?

Well, if you do get them wrong somehow, you'd have to do a three-week quarantine after switching them, which would be a bit of a pain, and 45 minutes is quite a drive. I have to drive thirty-five minutes to see my lover, so I know how you feel about the whole driving thing!

By the second and third week you should be able to tell them apart because they'll have their first feathers in. The EEs will be the hardest to figure out. because they may all look different.

McMurray has videos on Youtube of chicks, and what different breeds look like, and written differences on how to distinguish different breeds from one another; it should help out a lot.

Hope this helps; good luck with your chicks!
