Hi, i'm new here, because i need some help.

We have about 2 hens and one cock, they're wild but the 2 hens were reared in our back yard, so we let the loose and in the evening they come back to our yard to sleep.

One of the hens recently hatched about 10 chicks. One morning noticed one of them was making his way into our house when the mother had gone with the other chicks,
it seemed like she left him there.
When she came back in the evening I put him back with the other chicks and the mother began to attack him with her beak. I know its not because of my scent on the chick
because we've done it before because the chicks usually have a habit of getting lost.

So I placed the chick in a box, but he's not eatting anything. He only takes a little water from my finger. He doesnt walk strongly like the other chicks he keeps closing his eyes
and bowing his head until it touches the ground like if he's falling over or sleeping and then he would jump back up and start cheaping. And he's always wants me to hold him
and then he would go to sleep in my hands.

I dont know what to do with him since he's not eatting. I'd really appreiate some help. I supsect he may be sick which is why the mother chased him in the first place.

Thanks

Most likely the mom senses something wrong. If you want to try to help get infant vitamins without iron a drop in each nostril. Try electrolyes, sugar in water, even gatorade anything like that. If you have a feather duster put that in there with him he may not want you as much. some chicks will even take towards a stuff animal, but the duster works the best. mix his crumbles with some plain yogurt, try giving hard boiled egg mashed up too.

Maybe someone can add something I forgot!

Good luck!

I am sorry!

mama hen most likely does know best, and she will ignore or even kill a weak chick. You did your best that is all you can do. It doesn't help when they don't want to eat or drink when you are trying to help. I am sorry!

Hey guess what!?

I continued to give him water and this morning I decided to put him out in our yard to run around a bit after mom went out with the chicks. Then he got lost by accident! He just disappeared and then what do ya know? By evening there he was coming back with his mama! I was so happy!

A little chick that survived on water! But he doesnt look as weak now, he's walking upright. So I feed them and they're sleeping now.

I wouldn't advise putting a drop of anything in a chicks nostrils.....that will cause them to inhale fluid into their lungs.
