So i thought this was a roo which i was hoping it was (Go figure folks always want the girls lol) I was so happy to see it was a blue copper maran but now i am starting to think Female so can anyone help me out here? The breeder was the one that said it looks like a pullet but to me i thought for sure roo

So any help on clearing this up for me please....

and here is a black one that i got at the same time which i think is pullet for sure

Now i was thinking boys due to the crest and stuff but as it turns out girls have those too and very pronounced

crest?? i think you mean comb and wattles and yes both gender on every breed have those and then theres the spurs which hens can also get.

as for the gender...is there any copper coloring coming in on the wings??? from what i see there is none so that would make this one a pullet. the black has copper on the wings which would make it a cockerel.

Yes sorry i could not think of the proper verbiage when i was typing thanks lol. So you say the black is a boy but i don't see any saddle feathers on it at all so strange to me. I hope one is a roo because i really need one to be lol

Edit: ugh, I have bad eyes, had to look closer. Both boys

You sure? Can't base it on waddle and comb because this breed has it large and red in both males and females. I am more inclined to think the previous poster may be on to something cause the girls are not to have any bleeding on the wing area and the blue has non.

Hrm, it could be the lighting in the first picture, but I thought i did see red bleeding into the wings. Is the light just turning the wings colors?

well i wouldn't breed the black copper due to no to very very little leg feathering. they should have sparse leg feathers
