Need some help - splay legs

I thought maybe it would help you visualize if your hair tie thing is working. I would think you would need a hair tie that looks like these.

Good luck w your sweet little chick.

I have these Scrunci type hair ties but there's no way they would work because they are really big. I tried to get a good picture (see a few posts up) of the chick with the hobble on to see if it looks right, but the chick was sitting on the hobble so you can't see it very well.

I’m sorry your little fluff ball is dealing with this. Sounds like you are trying everything you can! ❤️

Do you happen to have pipe cleaners? I know it's a weird item to have but they are used for crafts too.
Yes...I do. If the hair tie I used looks too stretched out in the morning, I will try to re-do the hobble with a pipe cleaner instead. I need a better photo of what I made so the smart people of BYC can tell me if it is ok or whether I should re-do it. 😉
😂

Also KSKingBee has these ideas for peafowl, probably would work for chicks.

I might be able to do the cardboard thing too....but I am not using a heat lamp. Instead, I am using a MHP. So I'd have to figure out how to position the cardboard under the MHP so the chick can stay warm. It was born today so it will be a day old tomorrow. Hopefully that still gives me some time to get this problem straightened out using some of these good options (hair tie, pipe cleaner, or cardboard). I need to make sure it isn't being bullied by the other chicks too. There are 4 chicks in the brooder with the splayed leg chick. Three of them are over a week old. The 4th chick is just a few days younger than the splayed leg chick. Maybe I should move the 4th chick and the splayed leg chick into their own little brooder while the chick is healing?

Here's the little anklepecker this morning. He wiggled out of the hobble last night so I changed it out for a pipe cleaner. The pipe cleaner has slid up over his hocks but it is still keeping his legs in and he was hobbling around a bit....

But I tell ya.... Part zebra. 😂
