So i am going to set a ton of coturnix eggs this week.. and need some tips :p i am not sure about the temp or the humidity.. can i do a dry incubation? any tips or information would be great!!
Thanks!!!

Humidity should be around 45%-55%, and temp at 99.5. They take 17-18 days to hatch, and stop turning at day 15. Wait, what kind of 'bator do you have?

well 120 eggs are going into my hova bator and the rest are going into LG's... i have used them with chickens and ducks and have had no problems

STILL AIR TEMP 100.5 *
FORCED AIR TEMP 99.5 *
HUMIDITY DURING INCUBATION 45-55%, DURING LOCKDOWN AND HATCH 65+%

DRY HATCH IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR GAMEBIRDS... RESULTS WILL BE UNSAVORY

*= MEASURED AT THE TOP OF THE EGG

USUALLY THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH LG IS GETTING HUMIDITY HIGH ENOUGH, IF YOU CAN MANAGE THAT WITH SUPPLIMENTAL MOISTURE SOURCES THEY WILL WORK, HOVAS ARE BETTER FOR GAMEBIRD SPECES (DONT GET ME WRONG, LG'S A GREAT LIL CHICKEN BATORS)

i too am getting around 100 quail eggs to go in my bator but i think im going to use my still air bator

what if the temp drops below 98 for about an hour would it hurt the eggs?
and what if it gets to hot like around 105 would it hurt?

my temps are moving up and down my bator

is still air even good for these kind?

well my LG's are still air and my hova bator is a forced air.. i have not had to much of a problem with the humdity it just ranges for 2 to 3 % either way... but maybe i can get it to work with me.... Yes they are great CHICKEN bators

but i have a friend that had hova bators and she said they suck

so i went with one of those and three lg's for the chicken and quail... and we will see which does better

FLUCTUATING THAT MUCH? LG STILL AIR? THEY'RE KINDA KNOWN FOR THAT WHEN THE THERMO UNIT IS GETTING OLD

... 98 OR EVEN 105 FOR AN HOUR WOULDNT HURT SO MUCH BECAUSE IT WILL TAKE LONGER THAN THAT FOR THE INSIDE EGG TEMPS TO GET THAT HIGH OR LOW... 106 IS CONSIDERED POTENTIALLY LETHAL FOR MOST SPECES. THEY WILL TOLERATE COOLER BETTER THAN HOTTER. ALSO MAKE SURE ITS NOT YOUR THERMOMETER THATS BONKERS INSTEAD OF YOUR BATOR... OBVIOUSLY THE MORE STEADY AND GRADUAL THE FLUCTUATIONS THE BETTER. IF YOUR UNIT IS LG I'D WATCH FOR THE END AS I BELIEVE IT MAY BE AROUND THE CORNER

IF ITS A HOVA YOU NEED A NEW WAFER AND OR SWITCH WHICH IS READILY AVAILABLE ON EBAY OR FROM GQF THEMSELVES... FOR THE LG THERE'S A NEAT LIL GIZMO OUT ON EBAY THAT REPLACES EVERYTHING FOR IT... JUST KEEP YOUR SHELL AND INSTALL THIS UNIT AND IT CONVERTS IT TO AN (ALLEGEDLY) VERY STABLE FORCED AIR UNIT. I BELIEVE ROBO INSTALLED 1 IN HIS OLD LG??? BUT HAVE NEVER HAD 1 IN MY HANDS SO I AM LIMITED ON ACTUAL USE OF IT

FOR THE RECORD FORCED AIR IS USUALLY BETTER THAN STILL AIR FOR ALMOST ANY EGGS AS THERE'S MUCH LESS TEMPERATURE FLUCTUATION IN THEM BUT EITHER WILL WORK, THE DIFFERENCE IS IN THE HATCH

Yep, I have an incukit in my LG. When the thermostat busted during lockdown I changed it. It is actually very easy to install, just a few zip ties in it and you're done. It holds a great temp compared to the LG, the room temp changes a lot but the incubator never fluctuates by more than 1*. It is a pretty good little gizmo, buy straight from incubator warehouse instead of ebay...
