Hello im new to BYC :)
Recently my uncle bought two chickens for me , a pullet and a rooster. The rooster is black copper maran and the pullet is white leghorn i guess :D
Actually i don't have any clue about chickens
So jz wondering how long would it take my pullet to lay n wts her age :p
So Im attaching their pics
Any guesses? :) (any help would be appretiated) thanks.

You'd expect the Leghorn to lay by 24 weeks of age. Her comb will redden up when she is nearing laying age. With only one pullet for the cockerel you may find when he's at sexual maturity she will be a little worse for the wear. You can make her an apron to protect her back or just get a few more pullets to share his love.

One rooster can handle 8-10 hens, if he doesn't have enough, he may seriously overbreed & harm your only hen. You don't need a rooster to have eggs. You only need a rooster's services if you want fertile eggs - that can hatch into chicks.

We have 6 hens and get one egg from each gal everyday. No rooster needed here! We saw our first egg about 6months after they hatched. They will start doing a sort of crouching down or squatting when you go to pet them...when you start seeing that behavior you know you're close to seeing eggs in the nest! One other note. ... since you have a roo...you'll get fertilized eggs..... if you have fertilized eggs. . You can still eat them. .. just collect same time everyday and get them into the refrigerator so they don't start to develop. Welcome to BackYard Chickens! :)
