I have a BO sitting on 13 eggs in a deep nest. When I took her off to mark the eggs (to make sure no other hen added any more), I realized no one told the hen the rules about incubating! She has them layered 2 deep, some stacked on top of others, and the pointy end is up on some of them!

Is this normal? Does this effect the hatch rate?

Should I take the eggs and place them in the incubator??

Oh let her try:) JUst make sure the bedding is deep enough so they aren't breaking against one another. The pointy end will change the next time she rotates them:)
You can try spreading them out and see if she stacks them again.

LOL ! Yes, I tried spreading them into one layer; she hopped right in and started rearranging. No changing her mind, I guess.
