My coop is always a work in progress
I started using my shed as a coop in the fall last year
I only used half, then as my flock grew I took over another 1/4 of it to make it to introduce the.new chicken to the flock

Then about 2 months ago I said heck with it and took it all over

I am not sure of the size as I am terrible with sizes

My flock consist of
1 4 year old Nh red
1 year old bantam duccle roo
1 year old buff brahma bantam roo
5 month old light brahma standard
5 month old golden laced wyandotte
3 month old buff laced frizzle polish roo
3 month old silkie
3 month old golden laced polish
Those are the ones already together

I have 5 waiting to join the flock
2 2 month old silkie one is a roo
1 2 month golden laced wyandotte
1 month old dark brahma
1 month old barred rock

Whew.ok. so
I just cleaned the coop and rearranged a little I al going to make a little pen to put the roos in when they get a little too aggressive with the ladies

You can see one side I have a table with the nesting boxes under
Half of them sit on the low wall between the two sections at night that is why there is plastic there for now as a temp poop catcher
The polish and silkies like to be on the table.

I am trying to figure out what to put there to make it. Better as they prefer not to hang with the bigger guys

They like to be cozy and not out in the open. When they sleep they also like to be a little higher up. The silkie doesn't really roost but likes to sit up on things

The other side of the coop you can see is where I have their food, hay etc
But there's still room over there
There is a doorway that connects the 2 sides and the wall only goes up about 4 feet so they can go back and forth there

Any ideas what to put there or anywhere to make it more enjoyable for them?

Thanks

Consider putting in some roost bars, and in different areas. Some of your chickens prefer one spot, and some ,,,, another. Also consider installing poop catching shelves under roosts. You can make them trays that hold sand or other medium that can be easily scooped with a cat litter scooper.

Thanks, I definitely need the poop catching shelves, like the kitty litter idea, right now I just have a plastic sheet hanging under where most of them roost.
After spraying and scrubbing the coop yesterday I don't want to put that much work into cleaning poop again lol

thank you for the suggestion
