I GOT 6 EGGS RIGHT NOW, THEY SHOULD LAY AT LEAST 1-2 MORE TODAY AND POSSIBLY ONE MORE BEFORE I SHIP TOMORROW!

I need some testers for my Silkie Eggs. I've never shipped but I have had several boxes shipped to me and I'm confident there will be no broken eggs. I don't know exactly how many eggs will be sent. I've been getting 1-3 eggs a day, but most of the time its at least 2 a day. I've gotten 2 so far today and whatevers collected today, Monday and Tuesday. I'll ship out Wednesday morning. My Silkies have been laying for about a month now. They are about 7 months old. I took these pics today and I apologize for them being a little dirty. It started to rain and they flew for the coop. It's been kinda muddy here too with all the snow melting. I have a Blue, Black and White Cockerel and I have White, Black and Splash Pullets, and possibly a Blue pullet (not sure of her yet). I don't whos laying either. I've been cracking the eggs open for the past month and fertility is almost 100%. If I'm missing something, please tell me as I've never done this before and learning! I've gotten most of my Silkies from cjexotic. They are friendly and very fluffy, correct toes spacing and feathered feet. They are all bearded. Any questions, please ask! Paypal to [email protected] I'm guessing anywhere from 6-9 eggs will be sent priority mail. I will wrap each egg in bubblewrap, then wrap them in another layer of wrap and have lots of cushioning around them. Please just let me know how I did when eggs arrived and how the hatch goes. Oh and I'm from Pa 16117. Thanks!

Right off hand I think $10 is too little for packaging. There is your materials and time involved, it takes me over a half hour to package 9 eggs and at least $4 in materials. Whenever I buy eggs the first thing I do instruct the seller how I want the eggs packaged. Depending who buys your eggs your USPS costs could be over $10.

Shipping is dependent on the materials used (did you pay for them, are they free) and are you shipping in a flat rate priority box or are you shipping by weight. I had 30 eggs shipped to me and the actual shipping cost was $9.00 and they used recycled materials so there was no cost involved for packaging, I have had 6 eggs shipped that I payed $14 dollars for (both of these were in the last month). So, it is relative to your specific situation and shipping methods. It may cost more or it may cost less.

90% of the time I charge 12$ for shipping 11.40$ for shipping in flat rate medium box with delivery confirmation-.60 for packing materials. I get 85% of my packing materials for free or I recycle the ones that were sent to me. I try and pass on the savings as much as possible to all my cutomers. If I stop getting the free materials then my shipping will go up:-( Ive sent 6+ up to 24 eggs in the medium box with no breaks because of how I package-I would charge 14-15$ if I had to pay for all materials...

Thanks everybody for helping a rookie...lol I do have some bubblewrap here so I won't have to pay for packing materials this time. I also have paper to shred and I think some peanuts somewhere. I've even heard of people using hay/straw as packing materials??? I've received eggs in wood chips before.

The best shipped hatch I ever had was surely due to the great packing. She used bubblewrap & shredded newspaper in the smaller square box. It was 8(i think!) light Brahma eggs fromSundown Waterfowl.

Oh, no, don't use wood shavings! I did that once (12 eggs) and it cost $22 to ship them!

Wood shavings are very heavy.

I charge $15 because my shipping can vary between $10-$17 and also because I use a ton of bubble wrap each time I ship eggs. I wrap each egg individually and then wrap 6 eggs together to prevent shifting and then pack them very tightly with newpaper all around its worked well for me and I have never had an egg break. Good Luck packing your eggs I think its interesting to recieve eggs from other breeders and see how the packaging works.
