My rabbit had babies and July 5th. She had a litter of 4 but one of them seemed ok until about the 3rd day. He wasnt growing or eating. I took him in my house, warmed him up, and I tried to feed him. I wasnt thinking he would live because every time I attempted to feed him he would squeal and scream! He also had neon green liquid poop. I have been feeding him ever since then and he hasn’t grown very much and his litter mates are 3 times his size. I am feeding him a mix of goat milk and powdered goat milk. This morning I realized he has very white cream colored poop!! And I doing anything wrong or is this normal and is there any chance he will live? The picture that is below is him at 1 day old and him at 12 days old. Oh and he hasn’t opened his eyes yet, should I help him open them or let him do it?

Your little baby may just be the runt of the litter so it may take a little longer for it to open its eyes. I found a page comparing a runt to its siblings here: https://farmfreshforlife.com/save-the-runt-the-bunny-files/

I just did a bit of research online and you'll need to either start mixing some of the mother's cecal poop into the milk you are feeding it or into a bit of water to feed to the kit to establish good gut bacteria (usually they start eating it in the nest) or add probiotics. The instructions I found said to do it 2-3 times over 2-3 weeks.

@CapricornFarm do you have any advice or have you had this happen before?

Sorry, I have not had this issue so I can't give any further advice on that. What breed is the bunny? Sometimes miniature breeds produce what are called peanuts, very tiny babies. They generally do not do well and often pass away. I would let the eyes open on their own.

Now that he’s a bit bigger have you tried to bring him back to momma? If he is half the size of his litter mates, then he is a peanut and will live a short life of less than 10 days. :( It is extremely hard to successfully hand raise kits of that age. Hats off to you for doing your best!!

I don’t think that it’s a peanut because I read they have much shorter ears And he is 13 days old. I’m not completely sure though. I am out of town now and I couldn’t leave him with his mom because he would be able to eat. I’m not sure when I will be back home. Oh and he just opened his eyes yesterday night!!! What do you think about the cream colored poo?

It could just be because he's on milk that isn't rabbit milk. I know when I hand feed cockatiel chicks their poop is very different to parent fed babies. If he seems otherwise healthy I wouldn't worry too much.

Ok thanks!!!
