Need tips on what to help recover a misalinged hip

So my one year old parakeet cobalt has had a misaligned hip for a while now... yes he has been to the vet, the vet said to use towels on the bottom and it should fix itself... it keeps getting better but then it just gets worse... does anyone know any other things I can do to help? I help him perch and eat every day... and let him bathe when he needs it... is there more I can do?

Has it always had this? Did the vet think it was an injury or from a deficiency? Looks similar to splayed leg in chicks, but the bird looks mature by his cere color.

It was caused by his leg being caught in the cage bars after he pushed the papers off, he's a year old.
But also it is too late. Bird sadly passed away
