Need to cull 11 quail But wife won't let me.

I'm glad she at least tried the meat. Next time try a new recipe so she can try it a different way. I made no bones about it that our quail are food. Even my son who loves seeing the fluffy chicks ate them eventually, he knew they were for food. Maybe your wife would be better off not seeing the birds that you will eat? Some people find it difficult if they've seen the birds first.

Just set 20 eggs and will set another 20 in a week or so for future meals. The last ones made a terrific New Year's Eve party meal. Southern Fried Quail!

She actually helped me round up the 11 that we killed. She said she never wants to see the ones that we eat again and it'll help her. My birds are around 7 weeks so they should start laying soon and I hope to incubate 120 or so eggs so I'll have a lot mor to cull in the future.

I've found once the males start crowing incessantly, even in the middle of the night, it doesn't bother the family members as much when I need to process them. The roos in the freezer are nice and quiet.

Maybe she can be around the quail you use for egg production? Since they won't be eaten (at least not for a good long while) she shouldn't mind seeing them.

My wife just can't stand the thought of butchering anything even though she has no problem buying chicken from the grocery store.

In the end the birds were culled and she even tried some of it.
My friend's mother is that way too. When we butcher, fillet, etc. fish, fowl, and hogs, she eats them with no qualms. Show her an animal being butchered and things are drastically different. Where does she think the meat comes from anyway? Or how does it end up in a shrink wrapped stryrofoam tray?

I'm happy to hear to she tried the quail meat.
