At the moment I have a large coop where most of my chickens live but it needs an over haul. I have been looking around at some coops and am looking for something that won't break the bank type thing. I am looking for something that will house around 20 - 30 chickens comfortably. Anybody have any ideas of good places/ kits or bad places to stay away from? thanks.

Here's one site I found http://www.cottagekits.com/chickencoopinfo.htm

Those look nice. Have you looked through Craigs List? I often see coops under the listing of Farm and Garden. I have also seen local ads there to have them built for you as well.

My neighbor went to a local hardware type center, they had sheds outside. He asked how much for one of the displays, the guy sold him a 6 x 10 shed, delivered, that they were discontinuing for $800!!!

Never hurts to ask around.

To me, those coops look too small to hold 20-30 birds. Look into converting a shed, you can get them pretty cheap compared to a pre-made coop and it will most likely be larger.

I have surfed criagslist but people around me are crazy and normally ask $900 for a box with a door on it. Then say it can hold 30 chickens! What silly people.

I had thought about getting ashed but was only finding super expensive ones. Though I never thought to ask about the floor models!

Thanks everyone!
