Need to know breed and gender if this 8-9 week old.....

I aquired this as a Marans pullet several weeks ago. There are a few feathers on the legs, not many. Was supposed to be a Blue Copper Marans and a pullet. Anyone concur ? If I can get a better pic of the legs, I'll post it. It has slate legs w/ a few small feathers.

I'm going with pullet. I got a 50 - 50 chance of being right. Head just looks like a pullet. That is my only reason. A total guess here.

I'm going to go against the flow and say cockerel, but I could be wrong. A blue copper marans is correct for sure...show type marans have lightly feathered shanks.

Well, she's a pullet, but not a Marans. Marans should only have pink/white legs. I would guess that you have a Blue Jersey Giant mix or Australorp mix on your hands.

Are the bottoms of her feet yellow or white? White would indicate a Lorp, and yellow a Giant. Perhaps someone crossed one of the two with a Marans.

edited to add: This one is really nagging at me lol. Another possibility is a Langshan, it has some really nice long legs.

I say pullet, and she is VERY pretty. She has a small, narrow head, that's my reason.

I'm no expert but, I have to agree, French Marans. Mine have slate w/pink legs - and they are breeder stock, not hatchery birds. I wish I had a pic of my Blue Copper roo, he's quite the man!
